Festival Management Seminar

DOT CONDUCTS FESTIVAL MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

The Department of Tourism – Region III is set to conduct the 1st Seminar-Workshop on Festival Management on May 7 – 9, 2008 at the Marlim Mansions Hotel, Diamond Subd., Balibago, Angeles City.

The aim of the seminar is to set the stage for a well-planned and well-executed holding of festivals and special events in various places in the region where history and culture occupy a special place in the conduct of any event. It has been observed in the past that festivals are held haphazardly and are seldom rooted in history and local culture, thus making them copycats of famous festivals of other regions.

The organizers of the seminar include the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), National Historical Institute and Philippine Education Theater Association (PETA). Topics during the seminar include history in the making of festivals, the role of theatre arts, dance and songs in the evolution of the event. Workshops will be conducted to apprise the participants on the development of famous events like the Dinagyang and Sinulog as examples.

Invited to participate in the seminar include local government units, local tourism councils, education department, and private sector representatives. Registration is free and comes with lunch and snacks. Accommodation for participants is on pax account.
